Saint Rocco, champion of Faith and Charity, is the patron saint of San Nicola Baronia, Avellinto, Italy. Immigrant of the town brought devotion to Saint Rocco to the North End of Boston where, once a year each July, a mass and procession is held.

In 2002, Don Massimiliano, pastor of San Nicola Baronia, requested and was granted from Rome two relics of Saint Rocco. The lockets containing the bone fragments of the saint have the seal of Cardinal Camillo Ruini, the Holy Father's Vicar for the diocese of Rome.

One of the requested relics remains in San Nicola Baronia. The other was intended for the immigrants of the "San Rocco Society of San Nicola Baronia" of Boston. In August of 2002 Filomena Rago was given the honor of transporting the relic from San Nicola to Boston. The president of the society in Boston, Carmela Leone Favorito was privileged to receive this spiritual gift on behalf of the society, and through her generosity a reliquary to enshrine the holy relic was made possible.

The relic remain in the care of the Sacred Heart Church in East Boston where the Society celebrates a mass annually in October.
